CA Ideas

3 main ingredients I have learned from TA, that I will include in CA…

Karis

  • Female anti hero
  • Fractured (Subverted)
  • Dream sequences, drug induced.  Freedom, claustrophobic feelings.  Soft focus, micro wise. Low key.  Yellow and blue hues.  Body language key.
  • Urban setting. Start interior, bedroom (mise en scene important), leaves to exterior for escape, but met with same feeling of claustrophobia. Handheld camera, to generate effect of insatiability fragile nature.

Tommy

  • Masculine lead, Isolated, redemption or escape. Framing key. Closed framing. Contrast between wide shots and ECUs. Construct sympathy.
  • Antagonist authoritative figure over the lead.  Dark and mysterious.  Never fully shown. Over the shoulder shots and low key lighting.
  • Linear storytelling from protagonist's POV, but possibly taking advantage of flashbacks
  • Claustrophobic, tunnels, forests, closed spaces, contrast with open fields. Slow pursuit.

Callum

  • Both hero and villain male. Villain possible anti hero, clashes with pure traditional hero. Relationship usually established between the two. Possible mentor relationship, with villain/anti hero being older mentor of younger students/teacher.
  • School location. Links to characters back story and life.
  • Lots of flashbacks, and subverted storytelling.
  • Framing wise, close frame. Lots of close ups, face, body for fighting scenes, to show impact and action. Jump cuts, fast paced editing.
  • Possible mentor provoking fight with hero, to provoke reactionary response.

Jake

  • Strong, masculine lead male, big, authoritative figure, ex-military/police
  • Busy streets, city, urban, chase, confusion, action.
  • Basic, mundane narrative strands, then disequilibrium. Possible flashbacks.
  • Countdown to the anniversary of previous case/death. Hero still hunting down. Paranoia.
  • Mise en scene wise, props, calendar countdown.  Use of props to tell story. Police style crime notice boars. (Mr Rose G1 office as location)

Kelan

  • Hypermasculine anti hero. Money status, power. Profession?
  • Linear storytelling.
  • Eventual downfall of main character. Wrongdoing, getting caught.

Dan

  • Clear class divide. Rich and poor. Binary opposites.
  • Expensive, old, regal, linking to status.
  • Main character who is caught in the middle of this clash.

Lauren

  • Final Girl. Strong female lead, with masculine characteristics, for eg strength.
  • Male antagonist, masked or disfigured.
  • Connection between two characters, linked by past.
  • Micro, low key lighting, claustrophobic, ECU.
  • Chase, pursuit, change in pace. Secluded, out the way, isolated.

Dan

  • Cop, hero.
  • Locations, Downtrodden, working class, abandoned places, persuit, chase.
  • Revenge motivated chase scene.

Selina
